MISSISSIPPI DELTA (2022-2023)

THE OFFICE performing arts + film was thrilled to partner with the Mississippi Center for Cultural Production (Sipp Culture) in Utica, MS, to implement Artists At Work (AAW) in the Delta region from spring 2022 through spring 2023.

Team AAW is grateful to Sipp Culture for their leadership and for bringing together the 5 Culture Hubs that participated in AAW in the Mississippi Delta region, marking our first expansion in the south.  Each organization reflects the rich cultural heritage of the region and we are grateful for their partnership and their ongoing support of the many talented artists living and working there, where funding for the arts is often limited.

In each of the collaborations of the 10 AAW Artists in the Mississippi Delta region, we were inspired by the power of storytelling and artistic interventions as tools for preserving cultural heritage and providing progressive and inclusive platforms for community building. The projects of our AAW Artists, in partnership with their respective organizational partners – 5 culture hubs and 10 social impact partners – allowed communities to share their history, traditions, and values with others, ensuring that they are not lost over time.

The implementation of Artists At Work in the Borderlands region is made possible by the generous support of the Mellon Foundation that enabled AAW to expand nationally, launching programs in Los Angeles County (2021), the Mississippi Delta region (2022), and the Borderlands region (2023).
