THRIVE REGION (2022-2023)

With meaningful support from the Lyndhurst Foundation and important partnership from ArtsBuild, THE OFFICE performing arts + film was honored to have had the opportunity to bring an activation of the Artists At Work (AAW) program focused on climate resilience to communities of the greater Chattanooga Thrive Region.

During their time with the program, the 5 participating AAW Artists were able to connect with and tap into the inherent creativity of the local communities in the Thrive Region, and, through the arts, were able to help create opportunities for inclusive and participatory approaches to building resilience in the face of climate challenges that community members are navigating today and will in the near future.

The projects developed by our AAW Artists, in partnership with their respective social impact organizational partners, addressed conservation, agricultural concerns, underserved communities of high environmental risk, and the region's industrial history and impact on land and the economy.

The implementation of Artists At Work in the Thrive Region was made possible by the support of The Lyndhurst Foundation. Artists At Work is produced and administered by THE OFFICE performing arts + film with generous support from the Mellon Foundation.

  • AAW Administrative Fellows work to support the implementation and evaluation of the AAW program locally and play a vital role in communicating with regional program participants. AAW is thrilled to welcome Brianna Jones in this role for the Thrive Region.

As an avid consumer of the arts since adolescence, Brianna Jones has developed an immense appreciation for the conversational culture art inspires. Being a southern Black woman she has watched in admiration as her cultural experiences are given platforms for expression. Brianna believes deeply that such discourse and representation can build communities that hold space for diverse individuals, as well as, unite us all in our shared humanity. This is what motivates her to seek projects that aim to both amplify marginalized voices and support local community initiatives. As a Chattanooga native, she has witnessed the ways in which creatives in this region have unified in this regard; and she is excited to work on programs that will help them thrive.
